Pacific Rim Park Update

A great percentage of travelers driving through Port Alberni are destined for the west coast and specifically, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. We are improving on our challenge to stop some of them for a while to utilize our services and visit our attractions. Passers-through are now discovering that we have something to offer if you take the time to get off the beaten track, and they are planning vacations here, in a more central and affordable destination. This is precisely why we built our high-profile new Visitor Centre. Meanwhile there have been some major changes and improvements to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve that are worth noting. To detail all the changes and future plans for the park, Superintendent John Aldag will be speaking at our next Networking Luncheon. He will bring with him the park’s Visitor Experience Manager, Keith Morrison. The park representatives will talk about trends in visitation, structural changes and plans for the future. It’s been quite some time since we heard from our good neighbours to the west so it should be a popular and informative presentation. The Networking Luncheon is scheduled for noon, Wednesday, February 8th at the Best Western Barclay Hotel. To reserve your place at the table, call 724 6535.
We would like to see a landslide of nominations come in for our annual Community Excellence Awards Dinner. Surely there are some favourite businesses and individuals you deal with that deserve a good pat on the back, whether it’s for customer service or volunteering their time. It’s easy to access our nomination document, just click on avcoc.com and go to “Excellence Awards”. There you will find the categories and the criteria set out for choosing finalists and winners. We pick three finalists in each category and they are our guests at the dinner where the winners are announced. This year we will hold the Community Excellence Awards Dinner at the Best Western Barclay Hotel on April 12th.
