Shop Alberni

The Chamber of Commerce shop at home campaign entitled "Shop Alberni" begins Tuesday November 1st. It will be in effect until December 31st.

Participating merchants will display “Shop Alberni” posters in their shop windows, they will be listed on the chamber’s website (avcoc.com) and the list will be published. Shoppers will benefit greatly from spending their money at these participating merchants because they will receive discounts. The first time you spend $50.00 or more at a participating shop, you will receive a discount card. Spend $50.00 or more with another participating merchant (or the original merchant) and you will receive a 10% discount and your card will be stamped. A subsequent $50.00 or more expenditure with a participating merchant will net you a 15% discount and you can drop the card in a draw box for the grand prize draw at the end of the campaign. It’s simple. Shoppers choosing to spend their money locally will receive discounts, merchants will enjoy more traffic through their shops and receive advertising discounts in the media and those dollars that were formerly spent on the other side of the hump and therefore lost from our community forever, will remain here. Remember, it’s our local businesses that support our sports teams, events, fund raisers and organizations. These are the things that dictate the quality of life in the valley.

Participating merchants at this time are: Treadsetters Shoes, Harvest Restaurant and Polly’s Pub at the Hospitality Inn, Let’s Knit, Home Hardware, Homestead Cookhouse, Sweet Avenue, Salmonberry’s, McLean Mill, Ecuador and More, Naesgaard’s Farm Market & Boutique, Alberni Technology Solutions and the gift shop at our Visitor Centre. We’ll be "under the big top" for our Fantasy Auction November 25th at the Athletic Hall. Dave’s Catering will be providing a delicious meal. You can tee off in our “mini-masters” mini golf tournament complete with the coveted green jackets for the champs. Silent and live auctions will take place and a surprise entertainer will absolutely “wow” you. This is our one and only fundraiser to support chamber initiatives and the operation of the community’s new Visitor Centre. Tickets are on sale at our office or call 250-724-6535.
