Busy Calendar of Events

Congratulations to Helma Swinkels and her team at Pot Luck Ceramics for their first donation ($15,070) to Ty Watson House from the proceeds of pottery sales. Canada’s first Community Service Co-op is a going concern and the Chamber of Commerce is pleased to be able to exhibit and promote their wares and services. Watch for details of their first year celebration coming up on April 14th.
The Alberni Valley Business Fair is almost at capacity for exhibitors; all we need now is lots of people showing up to discover the amazing array of businesses that actually work out of our community. The event is free; it’s scheduled for 6-9pm Thursday March 15th at the Italian Hall. Come and visit the chamber’s booth at the fair and, anyone still interested in exhibiting that evening can register at Valley Vision. A booth is $20.00.
Another business-related seminar being co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce is Jeff Mowatt’s half day presentation entitled “The art of customer service…influence with ease.” These days it is exceptional customer service that often makes the difference in sales. This is a good investment for both management and staff and you can get more information and register at jeffmowatt.com/seminar/public.html.
Senior Parksville Counsellor, Marc Lefebvre, will be our guest speaker at the March 14th Networking Luncheon at the Alberni Golf Club. Our April luncheon will feature Campbell River’s Economic Development Officer, Vic Goodman. It will be at the Barclay, April 11th. Both will be interesting and timely speakers. Reserve you seat at the luncheon by calling our office, 724 6535.
The deadline for nominating for our Community Excellence Awards is Friday, March 16th. You can find nominations papers on our avcoc.com website and in both local papers this week. We will introduce the finalists and hand out the awards during dinner April 12th at the Best Western Barclay.
Don’t forget to mark June 26th on your calendar as Collette Travel will present a multi-media travelogue of our Sept. /13 trip from Amsterdam to Budapest. The evening is free and it will take place in our chamber boardroom.
Thought for the Week:
“Be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favours you have received.” Seneca
