The Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce is joining in the festive spirit this Christmas, hosting a yuletide open house for members, directors and community leaders. The event will take place from 4 – 7pm Friday, December 21st at the Visitor Centre. Come join us for some holiday networking, appies and punch. During the festivities that evening, we will draw for our annual beer fridge raffle. This year’s beer fridge, supplied by the House of Service, features the mighty Coulson Flying Tanker. Included will be gift certificates to Just Brew It and the Howard Johnson Beer and Wine Store. Thanks to D’Sign Guy for all the graphic work. The fridge is located in the Visitor Centre and $5.00 tickets are on sale there.
We will be coordinating the “Light Up the Night” contest again this year. Homeowners and businesses that have decorated for the season are invited to call our office and register. On Thursday evening, Dec. 13th we will send out a team of judges and three entries from each category will win nice prizes.

One of the events is becoming a very popular institution - the “Lighthouse Christmas” down on the waterfront. This party for the youngsters goes from 1-4pm Saturday Dec.15th, with Santa arriving aboard the good ship “Mary H”, live music, crafts, snacks and hot chocolate too – all for free. While you’re browsing our site, click on “Shop Alberni” and you’ll get the list of participating merchants in our shop at home campaign. Each merchant is offering a special discount price for those card carrying shoppers.
There will be no Networking Luncheon in December but on January 9/13, we will gather at the Barclay Hotel for a luncheon. Our guest presenter will be the always interesting Russell Dyson, administrator for the Regional District. The RD has some great projects in the hopper and this will be a good opportunity for the business community to hear what they are all about.
