Penny Cote to Speak at Food & Filosophy

What do you know about the Regional district? How many of you know about the operation of our City Council. We are going to have the pleasure of hearing from Penny Cote, who is a member of this district. Thanks for Richard Berg for sponsoring her invitation to Food and Filosophy at Dolce Vita on April 7th beginning at 5:30 p.m.
I wrote inviting her to our meeting and asked her to introduce herself to the entire community.
Penny Cote:

  • Director, Electoral Area ā€œDā€ Sproat Lake, Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, Vice Chairman (ACRD), Alberni-Clayoquot Regional Hospital District, Chair (ACRHD), Alberni-Clayoquot Health Network, Chair (ACHN)
  • I am one of 13 Directors on the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District Board, which includes 3 Municipalities, 3 First Nation Governments and 6 Rural Electoral Areas.
  • I am in business with my husband of 33 years, as owner-operator of a local stucco contracting company, and partnering in ownership of the Carmoor Block, Heritage Building at the Harbour Quay, where I was the proprietor of the Argyle Art Gallery for a number of years before I was elected at the ACRD. I still occasionally try to find the time to sit on many regional interest Committees... I enjoy my community and the people who live in it.
  • I have been a residence of Sproat Lake for the past 17 years, and have served my community as a Sproat Lake Community Association Director for the past eight and a half years. I have been a volunteer in the Alberni Valley for most of my adult life on one committee or another, and I continue to volunteer on project committees such as the 2013-2014 Port Alberni-Alberni Centennial Committee.
  • The ACRD manages services and infrastructure for the entire district, including landfills, recycling, airports, regional land planning, water and much more. Positive partnership among the Municipalities, First Nation Governments and the Electoral Areas are a key to our past and future successes.

Here is our privilege in meeting with a young lady who is devoting a lot of energy for our community. I thank you very much Penny for responding to your invitation.
