Positive Port Alberni

WHAT IS YOUR PASSION?
On March 7th at Dolce Vita, those attending the next meeting of Food and Filosophy will be discussing their passions in life.
As I contemplate this topic, my mind goes to Tom McEvay. Here is a man with passion. I remember this young man who came to teach at A.W.Neill some years ago. His mentor was Al Greenhalgh, who died a few years ago. I have lived to see this man spread wrestling in every school in this valley. He told me that he used wrestling as a vehicle to bring out the nest in students.
He started the wrestling programm at Neill, and today, Port Alberni schools are tops in this sport. Here was a man with passion. I met another teacher at Echo Centre, and asked him this question, and he told me that his passion was service. I can hear many people saying that they do not have a passion in life, but if they dig deeper, they would discover that they, too are very passionate.
This should be a very interesting evening, for everyone of our guests will have the opportunity to share their passion with the rest of the group. You have been given enough notice to prepare for this topic. It should be a fascinating evening.
I was confronted by one of my friends with the following question: What is your passion?
I have been thinking on this topic a lot this month, and I am now ready to discuss it with you. I have heard it said that Life should be a fantastic adventure, and I believe in that statement!
My main passion is life! The foundation of my life is Christianity. My life comes from God, and it is my hope to return to God after my journey on Earth. Christ's admonition to me is...Be ye perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect, and since God is love, my main passion in life is to love my neighbor as myself. Who is my neighbour? Every soul on this earth. So my main passion is living love each moment that I am here.
Another passion is loving my family, and as you know, this community has been extremely good to me, and loving this community is another passion.
How do I show my loving passion for this community? Through the Lions Club, The Folkfest Multicultural Society, The Barclay Choir, Food and Filosophy, Celebrating the Word, An ardent member of the Notre Dame Parish and The Early Bird Club at Echo Centre. As much as I give, I get. You all have been so kind and loving to me. So, I have started the discussion. Come to Dolce Vita at 5:30 p.m. and share with us your passions! Another passion is to listen to you all sharing your enthusiasms.
