Recruiting Treasure Seekers

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
At the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre we now have for sale the maps and punch cards for the Sept.29 Treasure Hunt. We invite everyone who wants to have a fun day of shopping/exploration right here in our home town, to come up and purchase the $35.00 treasure seeker’s package. Destinations on that day will include: Hollies Golf Course, Secluded Wellness/ALW Publishing, The Mortgage Group, Ecuador and More, Lube X, Alter Ego, Cloud City/Delirious Vintage, Beckonings, Jenny’s Fine Foods, Clocktower Gallery, Pot Luck Ceramics (11am-3pm only), Chances Rimrock Gaming Centre and the McLean Mill. Treasure seekers will visit each destination and receive a gift or free sample and then we’ll all meet up at the McLean Mill for a good old Texas barbecue – all for $35.00. This has never been done in Port Alberni, although the treasure hunt is popular in other island communities. To register, call or drop by the Visitor Centre.
We are moving our next Networking Luncheon up a week in October to accommodate our guest speaker, Transportation Minister, Mary Polak, who will be in town for business meetings. The special Networking Luncheon will take place at noon, Wednesday Oct.3rd at the Best Western Barclay Hotel. Port Alberni is lobbying for some major improvements in our transportation system at this point in time. It will be interesting to hear what the minister has to say about them.
Our last slide show travelogue on the Danube river cruise was a tremendous success and it’s good to know that there will be a solid Alberni Valley contingent on the Sept. 13, 14 day cruise. If you missed the slide presentation by Collette Vacations the last time around, there will be another one on Oct. 9th at 6:30pm in the Visitor Centre boardroom. Come join us and hear all about the wonders of river cruising through Europe. Call Twin Travel at 724 6501 to reserve your front row seat.
