Nomad Jones

A combination of youth and beauty, veterans and virtuosos, Nomad Jones banded together to
chase the bluegrass bug, bolstered by their diverse backgrounds. Equally comfortable ripping
on rollicking classics or serenading on sultry ballads, Nomad Jones draws on an extensive
repertoire of traditional ‘grass and beyond to provide a full package of family harmonies and
intriguing instrumentals.

The youngest member of the band, Nico Humby (Edmonton, AB) puts down a solid bottom end
on the double bass while providing passionate vocals. Nico’s bluegrass style has evolved
through years of singing and playing various genres of music, from funk to folk and R&B to
swing. He was a member of Bitter Green (with Mile Zurawell) which placed 2nd at the 2016
Blueberry Bluegrass Festival Band competition.

Also on the younger end of the spectrum, Miles Zurawell (Edmonton, AB) can and will draw
pretty much every emotion out of your soul as he riffs and rolls along on the resonator guitar.
Local Edmonton band The Misery Mountain Boys gave him his start from 2011 2013.

He counts Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Rob Ickes, Jerry Douglas, Billy Cardine and Bryan Sutton
among his influences.

Providing the drive and direction for Nomad Jones is preeminent performer Craig Korth (Nelson,
BC) on banjo. Craig brings a vast knowledge of the genre to the band with nearly 40 years
experience taking the stage across North America. His abilities have allowed him to take the
banjo well beyond bluegrass and he can be seen around the region rolling away in jazz and rock
groups.

Rounding out the band is Bill Humby (Victoria, BC) singing his heart out on lead and harmony
vocals and providing grooving guitar rhythm. Bill has a vast musical background that includes
drumming in a lounge lizard band, performing in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and singing on a
Radio Canada reality television show for bilingual Canadian families.
