Want to pick some fresh fruit over the summer? Have extra fruit you're not going to pick? Ready to share in the harvest?

The gleaning project is a community inititative that connects with volunteers, homeowners, and food distribution organizations. The project supports volunteers to pick available fruit trees and 1/3 of the produce is donated to charity. 1/3 of the fruit goes to the volunteers and 1/3 of the fruit goes to the homeowner.

Come out to the gleaning volunteer orientation to learn the ropes, meet other gleaners, and get ready for summer picks. $15* to become a gleaning member which includes a membership for Alberni Valley Transition Town Society and your involvement for the entire season.

*This is a sliding scale. If you are able to contriute more we would encourage you to donate $25 or $35 to help support project costs. At the sametime, if this fee is a challenge for you please talk to us. We do not want the fee to be a barrier to involvement.

See you at the garden!
