                                             Slo’ Tom Bio                           Spring 2016

Slo’ Tom (aka Tom Stewart) is an Ottawa based musician best known as singer and bass player of the band FURNACEFACE.  During their decade together, Furnaceface became one of Canada’s best know groups releasing five albums, a dozen videos, and winning numerous CMVA Awards.

Since the demise of Furnaceface, Tom has established himself as a popular country singer releasing three albums and winning the Ottawa X-Press “Undie Award” for male vocalist of the year.  Peter Simpson of the Ottawa Citizen chose Slo’ Tom songs as one of the Top Songs of both 2013 and 2014 and describes Tom as having “engaging humour and (a knack for) seemingly effortless melody making”.

Tom is a featured performer on the National Arts Centre ‘Ontario Scene’ Concert series in May 2015.  During his summer tour of 2016 Slo’ Tom will be performing solo shows throughout Vancouver Island.

Tom also performs with the popular children’s group HEY BUSTER, contributing songs, playing bass and occasionally singing.  On the literary front, in 2010 Tom published a book “From the Somme to the Suburbs”, a reflection of three generations co-written with his father and grandfather. Finally, Tom volunteers every month at the Civic Hospital entertaining patients and staff.

Tom is a co-owner of Spaceman Music, a musical instrument store in Ottawa that is an integral part of the local arts scene.  Spaceman Music is a co-sponsor of the “Girl’s Rock Camp” which mentors and encourages young women to participate in the Ottawa creative arts community.
