How Can We Help The Youths In This Community?

The deadline for entries of this year’s Canada Day is June 10th. If you are planning to enter, be sure your entry form reaches the Port Alberni Folkfest Multicultural Society soon.
If you are new to the parade try. Or if you did not get an invitation, e-mail or phone us right now. In return, you’ll receive an entry form and an informational package. Contact us at CanadaDayParade@gmail.com.
There is a spot for your group, your business or even your family entry. The Canada Day parade is a great opportunity to highlight your role in our community. Shaw Cable provides video coverage from Echo Centre as a community service. The Safeway reviewing stand is hosted by community volunteers.
Last week I said that the Elks contributed $500.00 to this organization. My error. It was the Eagles. To err is human; to forgive, divine.
At our meeting on Tuesday, we had a surprise guest. Mayor John Douglas actually visited this small group of volunteers. He also visited the Lions club, but I was absent at this meeting. Here is an example for us all to follow.

FOOD AND FILOSOPHY AT DOLCE VITA on MONDAY, JUNE 4TH. Last month we spoke of doing something for the good of the community. At our meeting, there was a young lady who challenged the group to do something for the youth on this community. She was envious of the contribution that we are making to our senior citizens. She promised that shed is going to bring a few more young people to challenge us to pay more attention to the youths in this community. The members have promised to be quiet and listen to the concerns of our youth. Join us at 5:30 p.m as we allow the youths to share their thoughts and feelings with us…
