"The herbicide RoundUp has become the most widespread herbicide in history. Its commercial success is phenomenal. It is a very effective herbicide, it works, it kills all plants I mean weeds. RoundUp’s toxic molecule is glyphosate. It was invented in 1950 as an amino acid analog. It became a herbicide in 1974, then became RoundUp Ready in 1996, then skyrocketed with chemical ripening of all grain and seed crops since 2000. It is sprayed in the forest, on the water, in every body’s garden, to control weeds everywhere. This war on weeds is not worth our communal health. Glyphosate is a powerful antibiotic that has contaminated our whole food chain. I call it an antibiotic masquerading as a herbicide.”
