Join us for a free movie screening of the Canadian-made documentary Scrap – a film about what happens to things when people are finished with them, and how some people are reimagining those materials into something new.
The screening, to be held Oct. 17, will mark the kick off of a community survey from the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, seeking information about how residents create and manage waste. It’s the first stage of public outreach in the new Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) process now underway.

ABOUT SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN + SURVEY
Regional Districts are required to create plans for managing waste. The ACRD’s current SWMP is now over 10 years old and the goals it established have been achieved – it’s time for an update! The extensive plan development process will include technical review and public input as new goals and strategies are identified to continue waste reduction work.
As a first step in public engagement, a community survey will be live on Oct. 16-Nov. 13 to collect information about how waste is managed now. Follow for the latest project news and access the survey at: www.letsconnect.ca/swmp
